Darina Szöllösiová

Glass is my passion. I studied geodesy and cartography at STU Bratislava, but most of my professional life is devoted to glass. When I am not working with glass in the workshop, I think about glass. On vacation I visit churches and glass galleries to get inspired.

Part of my work consists of customized stained glass. I create my own designs but I also create designs based on work of well-known artists, eg. Miroslav Cipár or Peter Čambál. When I started, my dream was to make church windows. As of today, I have finished stained glass windows in six churches and two houses of mourning. The greatest challenge for me was working on the castle in Pezinok, where I restored and produced replicas of original stained glass windows, into the hotel part I made new stained glass windows, doors and furniture, for wine shop and chapel I made stained glass designs by Miroslav Cipár. It took me one and a half year.

My free creation is focused on kiln formed glass and glass sculpture. Mostly I create practical objects – bowls, mirrors, tables and lamps but also glass paintings, wall cladding, free-standing objects for interior and garden.   I graduated from the masterclass of glass sculpture by world-famous glass artist Vladimír Klein.
