Vladimír Yurkovic

Vladimir Yurkovic was born on 8th of Fabruary 1964 in Bratislava. In 1988 he graduated interdisciplinary study of industrial design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava by professors M. Suchára and J. Vávra. After graduating he began working as a designer for company Chirana in Stará Turá. After 1989 he moved onto freelance profession and started working as a graphic designer. In 1991 he founded the Studio September Ltd., where he focused on graphic design work as Art Director until the end of 2008, when he entered into specific routing and founded a graphic design company YurkovicDesign Ltd.

Work

In the period of 1996-2005 he created identity and design for variety of products the company StandAudio. In addition to these activities, he devoted whole his life to photography. Since 2002, runs its own photo studio in Bratislava on Tomášikova Street.

In his artistic creation he is devoted to subjective document, portrait, commercial and fine art photography. Since 2002, systematically he is working on the project Men After Work – portraits of people taken immediately after work. In 1997 he won the National Prize for Design, let us mention the other awards as Gold and Silver stick in Portorož in 1998. In 1998 and 1999 he was the finalist and winner of the London International Advertising Awards, three times scored with the most beautiful book of Slovakia and also he acquired a number of other awards. He is a secretary of GDC-Grafic Designers Club of Slovakia.
