Underpainting on glass – in Slovakia, this type of art was mainly characteristic of folk art. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it appeared mainly where glass was produced. The basic difference compared to painting on paper or canvas is that we paint on the glass from one side and look at the resulting image from the other side. The painting process is the opposite, we paint the details first and gradually cover them, and the background is painted last.
