Jiří Holan

Mgr. Jiri Holan, born in Dvur Kralove nad Labem in 1969, has been a professional artist since his studies at the Václav Hollar Graphic School in Prague. He later studied at the University of Hradec Kralove and in 2001 became member of the professional association of artists in the Czech Republic.

His earlier works (to 2015) are mainly figurative themes with a number of drawing elements and subtle colour variations.

More recent works are abstract concepts of a subject, with a focus on  the visualisation of an element, bringing out  the emotional complexity of the atmosphere generated by the story lines of the image.

The images are created with the use of oil and oil pastel on canvas.

Put simply, I enjoy painting and drawing over the years I have tried to incorporate both of these techniques together. I like to use this for both abstract concepts and figural themes. I like it when the viewer can, just by looking at my canvas, imagine their own story and transform it into their imagination based on what I have painted.
