Lukáš Slávik

I have been involved in art since the age of seven. I started painting intensively when working on Street Art style when I was 12. Aged 15, I made extra money by painting various interiors, clubs, homes, etc. – still in Street Art style.

I subsequently leant towards acrylic paint and oil painting, which enhanced my painting skills. At my first exhibition in my home town of Myjava in Slovakia, I was asked which style of art I identify with.

That made me consider that I can’t place myself in the terms used to describe contemporary artists’ work. For a longer time, I have referred to my work as Diarealism, which I describe and specify in my book.

I subsequently had an exhibition in Bratislava at the Slovak Radio pyramid, then in Vienna, Austria, where I restored a work of art tribute to the Apollo 12 Moon landing.

I am still active in both Austria and Slovakia, where I’m working on a book in which I set myself a courageous goal and – as well as other aspects – I explain how important art is for our lives. I also strive to explain the term Diarealism. I firstly focus on a human’s feelings, which are the most important thing in art – both from the producer – author and viewer – consumer perspective. My aim is to uncover how the correct perception of art enlarges a view of the world, deepens consciousness, and develops the mind. It is production with no specified limits – neither in style nor thought presentation. It can be any art type, actually it can be everything we search for beyond beauty or decoration. You could consider Diarealism as synonymous to art, but the opposite is true. The central core of this art type is to capture feelings that I later process, I dig into the origin of that feeling, and then I strive to recast it into reality through Painting.
