Ondřej Svoboda
He was born in Brno in 1983 where he studied the smithcraft specialization at the Secondary Technical School of Foundry. Since the completion of the studies he has been making art exclusively and fully.
In his works he uses a wide scale of artistic images and forms. He treats materials with traditional smith’s handwork techniques, he combines iron with wood or other natural materials perseveringly, and inclines to structured, polished or matt surfaces.
Wit and simplicity have been quite typical of his works since the very beginning. The primitivism of the whole amplifies the expression and serene purport of his work, which mirrors the author’s life optimism, his effort to entertain people and make them laugh. His sculptures are typical by their directness, lightness and style purity, which emphasize the playful humour hidden in the simplicity of thought.
