Magdaléna Amzlerová – AmmaDea

Magdaléna Amzlerová was born on 18th of March in 1961 in Bratislava, Slovakia. She studied for a librarian and from 1980 she worked as a bibliographer, librarian and general cultural worker. From the new millennium she began to create art. Currently she works as a professional artist.

For years Mandalas represent her passions. Circular paintings, energy generators as she often points out. By her own words: “Mandala represented very symmetrical diagram concentrated around the centre of the image. Symbol of circle with central point embodies human soul in our physical world. Its a symbol of sun. Mandala is used during meditation, visualisation, harmonises space around us and equalises personal energy. It acts as a medication for a soul. Positive changes are subsequently manifested at the physical level.”

Hers work is divided into series according to the displayed topic. To support harmony and balance, she connects the square and circle symbol. A circle with a square is a sign of personal integrity. The conjunction of the spirit (circle) and the body (the square) is the starting point for the magical operation. It uses the effect and mutual position of complementary colours. It brings to the picture an element of optical colour perception and vibrations of both colours that creates mutual expression unity.

In 2016, a Tarot – Mandala series was created under her hands. The Flower of Life symbol is used as the background for the pattern. The originals are painted with a aquarelle (watercolour). They form the basis for the creation of fortune telling cards.

At the turn of 2016 and 2017, the Quantum LUX project arose. These are pictures of a smaller format with the theme of the Tree of Light. A particular part of her work is represented by the theme of trees, where again the pattern is created by inserting a circle into a square.

She paints her paintings by acrylic technique, on plywood with a sub-frame, most often 5cm. These are made to order. She stretches her own canvas on frame by hand. By her own words she likes this birth and continuity. From the very beginning she is one with the work being done. She writes all incoming thoughts, the meaning of symbols, links in colours, and thus she creates a unique story for each of the images. She is part of its life.

Magdaléna Amzlerová creates under the artistic name of AmmaDea, in village Báhon.

Magdaléna Amzlerová’s favourite quotation:

“We are all individuals, of all epochs and periods, and from all places we are all the lives that we have lived and which we have chosen not to live. We are the way, we are the pavement, we are the air we breathe and breathe into the lungs … and we are the lungs themselves. We are drops of rain that will wet our clothes, and we are the clothes themselves. We are clouds over our heads, we’re packing, content, and  whole packed together.”
