The Right Timing. A Milestone. And a Spectrum of Color.

Some events happen spontaneously; others take years to come to fruition.

The exhibition of Daniel Bidelnica in Čereňany belongs to the latter. The idea of presenting his work in this space had matured over time and was ultimately realized shortly after his sixtieth birthday.

The timing could not have been more fitting. Late May, when the château park is in full bloom, created a natural contrast to his work. While the exterior offered the subtle, organic colors of nature, the interior was filled with intense, expressive paintings.

Daniel Bidelnica is a prominent figure on the Slovak art scene. His work extends beyond traditional painting, transforming everyday objects and spaces into visually compelling and original statements.

His artistic practice is embedded in an international context, with exhibitions spanning Europe, Asia, and Africa. At the same time, he represents a strong continuity, with works dating back to the 1980s.

The exhibition presents a cross-section of his oeuvre—from earlier works to his most recent pieces—clearly illustrating the evolution of his visual language while maintaining a distinctive artistic identity.

The central work of the exhibition is the painting Lights and Shadows. Both compositionally and chromatically, it serves as a focal point that naturally draws the viewer’s attention and anchors the overall installation.

The defining element of the exhibition is Bidelnica’s use of color. Color is not merely a formal component, but a primary carrier of emotion and meaning—forming the core of his artistic uniqueness.

The opening on May 26, 2017, set the tone for the exhibition in a dynamic and vibrant manner, reflecting the character of the artist’s work.

The program flowed seamlessly from the introductory speech through the cultural segment to a guided tour led by Daniel Bidelnica himself. His personal commentary offered visitors deeper insight into his artistic approach and context.

The exhibition Lights and Shadows has now passed its halfway point, with limited time remaining for visitors.

If you are in the Čereňany area, it is well worth including in your itinerary.
