Young artists Daša Ďurišová and Jakub Lipták are a well-coordinated pair — they share many views of the world, a shared household, shared employment and a shared passion for art.

Daša was born and raised in Bánovce nad Bebravou, while Jakub was born in Bratislava but spent his childhood in Veľký Ďur. For nearly a decade, however, their paths—both personal and artistic—have been closely intertwined.
In 2016, they graduated from the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, Faculty of Fine Arts, in the field of Fine Art. They completed their Master’s studies in the Sculpture and Applied Media Studio under the guidance of Associate Professor Juraj Sapara, earning the degree of Master of Fine Arts (Mgr. art.).
During their studies, they participated together in several group exhibitions in Slovakia, including venues such as Pisztory Palace in Bratislava, Kunsthalle Bratislava, and the Central Slovak Gallery in Banská Bystrica. They also exhibited internationally—in Zlín, Valašské Meziříčí, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, at the Academy of Arts in Serbia, and at the Edyta Stein Museum in Lubliniec, Poland.
With our curatorial support, they also presented the exhibition Colors of Joy in Čereňany.
Their latest joint exhibition will take place from September 4 to October 1, 2020, at the MÚR Gallery in Prešov, once again with our curatorial collaboration.

Daša Ďurišová focuses primarily on painting on canvas in her individual artistic practice.
Her work represents a more abstract mode of perception, characterized by strong compositions, vibrant and playful color palettes, and dynamic spatial structuring. Her paintings are often reduced to geometric fields, intersected by horizontal and vertical lines that create rhythm and tension.
She draws inspiration from the textures and colors of nature—landscapes, underwater environments—as well as from everyday life and the subtle details that often go unnoticed.
The color palette of her work responds to atmospheric phenomena, the interplay of light and shadow, and her own emotional states and inner experiences.

Jakub Lipták primarily focuses on small-scale sculpture in his artistic practice.
His work is deeply inspired by nature, and he often allows space for chance within his creative process. He works with recycled materials, assembling and transforming them into sculptural objects.
In his most recent work, he has created a series of ceramic pieces titled Earth, symbolizing soil, the earth, and the fragility of both our planet and human existence.

Daša Ďurišová reflects on their shared artistic practice:
“When I think about it, I feel it this way—we live together, work together, and create together. We see the same things, the same landscapes, yet each of us perceives and experiences them differently. And each of us processes them in our own way.
Of course, we influence each other, and that is visible in our work. Still, we each maintain our own distinctive artistic language.
I perceive the world through color, while Kubo works through material. I follow emotion; he follows matter. It becomes a feminine and masculine way of interpreting the same world.
In the end, it works—we complement each other. I work in the plane of painting, while Kubo works with volume, in sculpture.”
We wish the exhibition great success and many perceptive visitors!
