The Business Design Centre in Islington, London, hosted the prestigious modern art event London Art Fair in the second half of January, from January 18 to 22.
This beautiful historic venue welcomed more than 125 carefully selected galleries, primarily from the United Kingdom, along with several international participants, who presented highlights from their collections at the 29th edition of this important art fair.
Each year, London Art Fair symbolically marks the beginning of the new “art year” in January.

This year’s fair once again offered an engaging and welcoming environment for collectors of all levels—from seasoned collectors to those looking to acquire their very first artwork.
It also served as an excellent platform for discovering new perspectives in contemporary art. The accompanying program featured talks, lectures, and interactive events, providing deeper insight into current artistic trends.
The galleries presented a curated selection of modern art spanning from the early 20th century to the present day. Installations covered a wide range of media, including photography, painting, sculpture, and ceramics.
The curatorial approach emphasized both quality and artistic relevance, resulting in a collection that not only aimed to captivate but also succeeded in appealing to a diverse audience—from experienced connoisseurs to newcomers.

The organizers themselves emphasize that strong marketing and strategic partnerships ensure a steady flow of visitors and targeted collectors for the participating galleries.
Among the attendees are not only prominent collectors, but also representatives of public and private institutions—museums, galleries, and corporate collections. They are joined by a well-informed audience that regularly returns to the fair, often with the intention of expanding their collections.
An integral part of the event was its extensive accompanying program. Throughout the fair, prominently featured sections such as Art Projects and Photo 50 were on display.
The Art Projects section provided a large exhibition platform primarily for emerging artists and performers from various countries. In addition to artists from the United Kingdom, participants came from Greece, Germany, Japan, France, South Korea, and Zimbabwe.
A notable feature of the 2017 edition was the inclusion of large-scale installations, solo presentations, and thematic group projects. The program also highlighted the intersection of film and new interactive media.
