Milada Ďurečková
I was born on December 24, 1953 in Ostrava, where I grew up. I have always drawn and painted, always, everywhere and on everything. Ten years of the People’s School of Art, and two years of painting courses with professor Knap in Ostrava.
But there were also periods in my life when I painted only in my mind, because I got married and moved from Moravia to Eastern Slovakia.
I returned to painting after I was 33 years old and started almost 20 active years in the community of artists in and around Michalovce. Joint exhibitions in Michalovce, Bratislava, Linz, Austria. Together with artists from Michalovce, I attended various competitions, meetings and joint plein airs at Šírava, at Morské oku, as well as a number of plein airs at the national level, where we met with artists from all over Slovakia.
I regularly had solo exhibitions in Michalovce, Vranov nad Topľou, Bardejov and in 2009 I presented my paintings to the audience in Bratislava.
I painted mainly at night. I loved the smell of oil paints and the whole slow process of creation, when I still had 5 – 6 paintings in progress.
In 2005, I decided to change everything in my life. I went to in Bratislava with one suitcase. Although the first year was more than difficult, after that I started to do well. In all. Today I am living my dream. I now paint abstract pictures with acrylics, I give them the energy of joy, peace, satisfaction. I put myself into them, there is acceptance of everything that life brings, understanding, gratitude and joy from every day.
The best pictures somehow paint themselves. I don’t notice time while I am painting, it’s a deep immersion in the picture.
